Is Something Really Wrong ?

When we come back to review the different regimes and their political doctrines, we would naturally find that there appears to be something wrong somewhere in the various beliefs amd political thoughts. We need to scrutinize the many an ideal and theories to find out the truth.  Just because the fallacies of different ideologies, I think it is not too late to really study the truth and the reality in order to be able to stand on the right path. Certainly it is very important subject to study as many lives were lost and many sacrifices of life and properties were caused and surely there must be a way to set the situation right and in true lightss. An extreme example is the continuing human bombers who seem to be committing suicide purely on the sssumption that they would go straight to the celestial city.  How awful it is ! At the end of the day, I think it is still the common sense only that is needed to clear off these false beliefs. Life is precious and you can live once only so if we cease to exist in this world any more then it is full stop. No after life nor any gods or godesses would ever be able to help you. One plus one is two and there is no wlay we can desregard all the results and findings of scientific researches and experiments etc.  Wake up all ye believers and non-believers, it just needs commonsense to lead a proper life!

98th Birthday celebration

It is rare that people can live up to 98 and I therefore feel greatly priviledged to be invited to the birhtday celebration of an old man still active in society and community gathering especially the clannish associations.  Some friends told me that it is a waste of time to join the associations especially as many of these are clannish in nature and the stress is more on superficial interaction and feastings.  But I would not distance my self personally from such groups as I feel we as human beings are living as a group and so it is for quite a few the only chance of interaction with others.  Unless the association is illegal or doing anything harmful to the society, I would see no reason why we should desist from it. This old citizen has been a founder of the clannish association and was the first chairman.  He certainly has contributed a lot to the clan people and we should not deny him the happiness of the grand celebration of his 98th Birthday!

Be More Objective in Attitude!

I have just come across a peculiar character in literary circle. He has no doubt gone through a difficult time in his student days and when he came out to work as a temporary teacher in an independent Chinese school, he also suffered persecution over and over. He is leftist alright but he certainly is a peculiar one with rather diehard ideas.  For example, he is one who carries out his personal campaign against homosexuals and condemns anyone who may be just holding a liberal view on this subject. Sometimes you would think he looks more like a Confucious old scholar than an advanced thinking man once in the fight against the old establishment. He can write a lot but now growing old he seems to be more concentrated in posting some photoes taken in his many a tour especially of the places of the Long March.  He likes to recite some famous poems of Mao Tze Tung and Guo Mo Lou and some stories of good samaritans but of course he is a vowed atheist. It is now found that he becomes more and more narrow-minded and stubborn as he grows in years . He cannot tolerate any comments at all in his blog and would readily call his commentators names such as reactionaries, selfish guys, pretenders and what not. But in actual fact in real life he has not done anything really great to conform to his ideals. He shirks others and is not in any groups whether legal or underground. Perhaps the only good is what he writes so far is still leftist in nature but his personal life and personal relationship with his friens, relatives are far from satisfactory at all.  I would say he is really confining himself to his own world more like a hermit. But it is best that we leave him alone or he could go after you like bees from a disturbed beehive havoring over you without end! The way he treats his opponents is far from fair and just as he himself always protests against for he makes groundless attacks referring to the comments made by other bloggers but he never quotes a sincere contest of the comments in question thus leaving the readers unaware the gist of the polemics..

Jump on to The Wagon!

It is a jargon of sarcasm but I think it alright to get our former social activists to break out from their self-imposed seclusion and join the current struggle against the old reactionary forces. It is too optimistic to think that the well established evil forces will abjudicate by themselves. No, they would try all hooks and crooks to cling to their posts to continue their rule and corruption. So I say lthose who think that they are righteous and clean and would not want to dirty themselves in the soup are not right at all. They have by their own choice abstained from all activities apart from some nagging and firing canon in the coffee shops etc and by so doing they really serve the evil forces because the present movement needs active participation from all quarters and all peoples. We don't expect help from outside like Libya where the despotic leader has been killed. We want a bloodless uprising of all peace-lowing people to cleanse our political arena and turn a new leaf in our country's history! So call on the loners, hermits and lone rangers to take part. Your effort is needed to push down the termite-stricken old tree!

By The Way did you call old friends ?

Nowadays, we find that human relationship is at the best lukewarm and even cool. You would seldom get a return call if you  have made a call to a long time firend , old classmate and old playmate or schoolmate.  I used to have a telephone book recording the names of old contacts and sad to say each time I take up the record book, I find that I may have to cross out some names as they have passed away.  When I do contact some of them when still alive their response is rather strained and reserved in some cases.  Except for some matter requiring my help, they seldom make any return call. It is therefore true that human relationship is generally cold as the winter season. But it is still something we can do to improve this by setting up some aim and purpose in order to be able to improve relationship. We can still believe that while there is the will there is the way.

How We Judge A Person?

Some Time ago, I met with an old gentleman who has gone through the turbulent time in the rural areas and in his school days he was quite active in literary circles. He is leftist though he has not joined the students movement nor the underground political organisation not because of his stand but because he has never been able to mix with others. We may not know his true colours until you really deal with him especially if you are having arguemnt with him in his works or blogs or books he publislhed. Then he would be in a most notoriously self-centred and despotic beyond common sense and reason.  This I have not known since I know him very little and all the time being admiring him for his past.  Later it has been found out lthat he is really a loner and sinister is his true nature. In his eyes he is the only hero while others are looked down upon as deserters and reactionaries. But in true fact apart from some poems of Mao and Guo and some copies articles from China, I do not find any real substance in him either as a revolutionary nor a real literary fighter at heart because of his extreme egoist and vain-glory.  By labeling others as hypocrites, he has depicted himself as one in deeds and in words. I have to expose him to avoid young people being misled by his outward appearance and those books he wrote are not sincere for he is only interested to push the sales to ask lthers to finance his worthless projects mainly to enjoy his own vainglory and some pocket money too.

The Fall of A Statue

I must say I am always close to the left leaning circle of old friends who have gone through the dark ages of suppression and persecution of the old reactionary regime. I do admit that I am not the fighter type and have never been in the struggle for independence as I never took up arms nor joined the movement but I have sympathy for the young people who sacrificed a lot and some even died in the struggle. It was with same spirit of admiration that I met this old man who was in the movement mainly in education field though he has all the time being quite secluded and loner. Now he spent most of his time going around on tours mainly to China to see how the Long Match had occurred in those days.  He indulged in blogging and it would be a platform for discussion if not for his very peculiar character.  At first he invited others to view his blog but later when some comments were made not to his own preference, he started cursing suing black threats and outright personal attack and smearing and what not.  Even when there is practically no ciriticism and purely friendly admiration and appreciation, he still would not tolerate a little bit of deviation from his own viewpoint which is mostly extreme and egoistic to the extrem so to slay.  With so many enthusiastic bloggers around this country, I  must say I am quite businly engaged in inter-action with tehm with velry satisfaction .As he is of a type that is stubborn beyond salvation, I would therefore leave him alone once and  for all. Let this lone ranger go round to sell his books which are worthless in view of his actual behaviour and relationship with others.  I deeply regret this development but could not do anything more than quietly bless that he keeps to his path and prosper with his sales. Gusefachai!

What Can We Do?

Oftentimes, we ask ourselves what we can do being an ordinary man or woman in the face of the complex and confused world. Well I think we have our role to play as bastian of democracy to hold on to the principles of truth and humanity against all the evils now prevailing especiallly in the poltical arena. Why politics? Because it the most essential aspect of our living and our happiness and future hope all depend on caean and transparent politics.  Other countries around the world have shed blood and lives just to exercise their birthright so it is up to us to see that our world here is clean and be cleared of rats amd ter, otes and rod pf thje bogus politicians who are there only because they want to grab some wealth to add to their coffers alrealdy bursting with ill-gotten gains. SDo be sure to cast our votes wisely and don't you ever say whoever is elected is the same. Not the same men, a hell lot of difference and it is a matter of life and death.

Be Wise To Save Your Own Skin!

We have now witnessed a lot of heads of states being pushed down with the latest Yemen leader who has made a wise decision of bowing down before it is too late. In so doing he indeed saves his own skin but it also prevents the massacre and wanton destruction of his country in the process of revolution. We do hope that all the corrupt and dispotic heads of states can take lession from the recent events to quickly act to step down and ldet the people take charge or otherwise you would be chased out or arrested for trial leading to possible galore or guillotin ! Those corrupt leaders are not fools and it is to the best of their own interest and that of the people that they step down soonest possible to let the countlryu return to peace for reconstruction and progress in the real sense of the word!

There Is Hope

Who would ever think of the downfall of so many bad and corrupt government around the world in so short a time. It certainly has brought great changes to the world since the overthrow of colonial powers and the revolution of the world proletariat. As compared to the two world movements before, there is now a new form of transformation in which quite a few have been achieved with less loss of lives and disruption. It would be false to claim that it had all been peaceful transformation. Without the blood of the fore-runners or pioneers, it would be impossible to dislodge the long entrenched vested interest groups. Only that there are now more popularly involved citizens of all races, classes etc. Hope this popular movement would grow strength to strength so that our future generations would not have to lsuffer as we have done under the corrupt undemocratic gangsters' rule !

Internet

I for one would like to say that I am facsinated by the wonderful features of the world wide net and really think that it helps a lot in the progree of our world especiallly in the fast pace of the political development. Now you have almost lost count of the past revolts and revolutions etc but what we have now is more powerful than any political movements of the past. We have witnessed the fall of many a regimes in the recent past and we will soon be able to see more changes in the countries around the globe. We certainly have to welcome this new forces of the masses enabled by lthe great inventions and discoveries of new technics and all the new things which would certainly improve and fasten the pace of progress of human civilizations. Hope that Arroyo's arrest would certainly hasten the evolution of a new world!

What A Troubled World!

Living in this time of an age, we are naturally excited and sad. In this age of many changes in the political scenes, we would tend to be excited and hopeful for changes for the better life. Why sad because there are all sorts of disappointments both within us and outside world. There are all sorts of natural and human disasters around what with the floods, earthquakes, mine blasts, nuclear reactor disasters, you name it we have it. There is a saying that where there is danger , there is also solution and there is silver linings in the darkest cloud. Furthermore when we ignore our selfish self interests, we would look things in a wider perspective and become quite open minded.  Thus it is able to breathe with the masses and we would have the strength of the masses to back on.  Well after all we can get inspiration and encouragement from the masses. So ever forward without having to look back.

Nightmare

I regret very much that I have met with a very strange character  whom I suddenly become a complete stranger to after nearly haft a century being together.  I just wonder how a person could change so much and even going from bad to worse in recent years. No one is perfect and has many witnesses indeed but to always pin on some small things and insist on own opinion without hearing any explanation or simply ignore all pleadings to see the actual facts and evidences is very very despairing and down-hearted to say the least. She could come in any time and at a glimpse accuse others of seeing some ladies' pictures while in fact it is just a page of news with some illustration pictures which could include any persons or objects etc. What is worse she would hold to such view without giving chance for others to explain and refused categorically even to stay for a few seconds just to see clearly what actually is the picture about.  The accusation would not be retracted even if you give the best hard evidences and arguments. What is worse she would now and again refer to the allegations and false accusation as evidence without second thought. This is what infuriated others to a new boiling point.  Therefore it is a real headache to have such a partner and at all costs be forgiving and caring for life long interest. Well after all this is real life and that is what we have to bear with in our life.

There Are Many Ways of Making Quick and Easy Gains                      It seems there are many easy ways to grab money nowadays.  Some ministers have been given huge projects without having the slightest idea of the ways of the business. All the tax payers money is just siphoned sway to add to their personal coffers including their henchmen.  Even upon queries they could not even give any good reason to explain how the huge sums of money have disappeared and the so called projects failed miserably.  So ours is indeed a celestial country in which all the rats, cheats, smugglers, corrupt officers and what not can freely dip their hands into the broil. It is no doubt w a great pity for the masses now living in hot soup.

What is Wrong with the Homosexuals?

We now witness all sorts of war cries and barking from all the elements of those corrupt regime and their lackeys. They are all humans like us and they have every right to do what they think right.  So shut up and let them be men! As compared to those corrupt political opportunists who abuse their powers to make themselves rich at the expense of the people, they have not done anything detrimental to the interest of the people at all. What the religious bodies believe and uphold do not matter as they have no right at all to force others to believe what they believe. The discrimination against homosexuals and other minorities only facilitates the oppression and clear bias against the lesser groups as practiced by this country.

The priorities in life

When we are in our golden age, we would naturally have to make some choices in life. We say we can't do much and have to be satisfied we have limited choices.  I personally think that the priority is still the maintenance of a good family atmosphere and harmonious home.  It is excusable that in the past due to the white terror, many people were forced to run away from home and led very precarious and lonely life but now the time is different, you are no longer in emergency and it is time to repay to your children all the past love and care.  It is not right at all to heap the blame on the authority and you have to take up the responsibility of bringing up a healthy family. It is certainly not easy to mend the relationship but I think being courageous people of the political struggle you are more than qualified to handle this very personal problem. So now look up and face the fact and try your best to be responsible for the building of a happy family and in so doing you are actually building up your own happiness for the rest of your golden years.

The meaning of livinng

Often times we are urged to know the real meaning of living and not just keeping ourselves alive.  Life means much more than just to survive. It is not hard to make a living even in such a retrogressive country with the economy facing bankrupt.  I think we naturally have to be concerned of our environments and know what is really going on. Since we know that the ruling power is abusing their mandate and they are really robbing the people of the natural resources . They have tried all means to cling to their posts so as to grab more and more money so as to be able to stay in power to continue making more money. That is why we should try to play our part as citizens to reverse this evil trend and stop the day light robbers and corrupt gang from ruining our country! It is not right to keep aloft from it all or else our future generations would be destined to be ruined in no time.

A memorable charactor

It was in the early days of my working life that I met this peculiar lady. She was at that time doing small business selling shoes in Sibu town. But before that she had been an active student movement agitator so to say.  I recalled meeting her in a small village down river when she was going around the village to tell villagers to go against the new regulations of the education policy of the British Colonial administration with the sinister aim of eliminating Chinese education which they consider as subversive. We did not know each other then and I nearly forgot all about her. It seemed she was later arrested by special branch and put into custody in Kuching.  Somehow or other, she was later released and then she began having a special relationship with a married special branch officer who was married to her cousin sister.  There was a short time of struggle and conflict with her cousin fighting for the same man but later she gave up bringing up the only daughter all by herself.  Some time later, I met her again in Miri where she began a small time facial and beauty treatment centre. She did make some money during her short stay in Miri.  The last I heard of her was in Sibu when she came back there to talk of business deals in hair saloon business.  By then she had migrated to Australia and her daughter had also entered university there. In a way she was quite capable in view of her scanty resources and she made it all alone. I wish her every success in her undertaking.

A Senior Citizen

He is a retired pastor and an active member in the community. Suddenly he fell terribly ill with serious rupture of the small intestine and vomited blood all over the floor. He was then sent to the nearest hospital for emergency operation and has up to now not left the ICU yet. The interesting thing is he did not feel anything wrong before this although he has had his stomach operated on many years ago with nearly half of it cut off.  When asked about this he would naturally say it is the will of God and I wonder why would God take his earthly life and let him serve in the Heaven!

The Auditor Report

How do you feel when you once again read the auditor report on the government departments overspending and make purchases at very highly jacked up prices as much as even 100 times in some cases. or even more.  I wonder how they can get away with such wanton abuse and daylight robbery! Is it not time for those who want to be reelected to do something about this. How do they think people will condone such terrible stealing of public and tax payers' funds? Why the relevant authority has still not done anything to investigate such clear abuse? They are very smart to be able to hold on to power for so long and they certainly have seen and witnessed the tragic ends of the despotic and absolute rulers of the states in Arab states. Surely they can see their own future is now in their own hands and don't wait for the risen-up people to handle the situation and then it would be too late to cry for mercy!

Call To Repent!

Now is the time to repent and desist from continuing your pursuits of evil deeds including corruption and even daylight murder with special forces and bombs from the defence armoury. Now that the most powerful strongman has died and a lot of absolute rulers have fallen from grace now in prison or exile waiting the justice to run her full course. We do plead with the bosses above to wake up from their deep involvement in all sorts of intrigues and tricks. The fact that the truth and justice will always win eventually but certainly and then you will be judged and condemned accordingly. Sometimes you might be summarily executed by the relatives of the victims in the heat of the retribution just like Gaddaffi who once seemed invincible. Man.. face the fact and do not push your head into the sand like the ostrich. Whatever amount of gold and ringgits cannot compensate for your dear life. So now take fast action to do right what is wronged!

The Death of Gaddafi

The strong man of Libya is now dead and Libya is free from the despotic absolute ruler. I think it is time that the other corrupt and despotic leaders around the world especially in this region should take a good lesson from this incident. If you try to cling to power and abuse it for your personal gains and those cronies, you will have to pay for it one day and perhaps with your dear life. So if you can see reason and act now sensibly it would not be too late. While you are still alive do something good for the people. You should now once for all do away with all the  follies of grabbing all the wealth and squeeze the people dry. You certainly cannot keep your ill gotten wealth and worse still you can be forced to account for all the unjust dirty moneys and even have to pay with your dear life! Wake up and repent and mend up all the injustices while you can.

Friendship

I have a considerable long term telephone friend so to say because of the distance between us, we seldom visit each other and the only contact is by phone call which happens to be very cheap with a package.  I must say I treat her as a good friend as I have helped her in some small ways and give her advice as I am ten years older. I assume that I am doing some service to her and she appreciates the help and advice until one day I revealed to her I had made a good profit from real estate deal .  She suddenly demanded that I gave her a portion of that profit so that she could enjoy and share my happiness.  Her way of demand made me sick and I am now not able to continue the pure friendship contact. Not that I am stingy but I feel I have wasted all the twenty over years' of concern and advice so I am determined to end this relationship. I must add that although she has been close to me and is very friendly but we never have a chance to develop this friendship any further . Plato's love is the only description and so let it go to the river of no return with no regret.

Narrow Escape

I have had a narrow escape from the Rajang River when I was only 10 years or so. I was at a wharf watching my big brother and sister rowing a boat. When the boat came near the wharf I could not  wait any longer and just put one foot on  to the rickety boat. Before I knew it the boat shook and moved away from the wharf thus I fell into the river in no time.  It was sometime before I was hauled up by my brother like a soaked through chicken.  Later I also experienced a near drown in a pond near Su Lai Primary School in Telok Ensurai down the Rajang River. I was pulled up by a schoolmate whom I often looked down upon because of his poor school result.Being his free tuition teacher, I often scolded him for being slow in learning. But now I regret and feel that he has certainly saved my life then.  Then over ten years ago, I just happened to have artery operation, I could have just ended my life if not for the capable Indian expatriate doctor who just happened to be on his last day of duty and would fly back to India the next day. Fortunately he made the perfect diagnosis and I was sent to bigger hospital to do the vital operation thus I escaped another death.  So I think I have all along been rather lucky having escaped death for three times. Thaat is why I believe I have to do all I can to cherish this precious life for the rest of my life. I think I am able to meet any difficulties in life and hope to do something good to other people as best I can not just for repayment of kindness of others but also for the sake of humanity.

The Importance of Maintaining a Healthy Marital Relationship

I have witnessed  a couple married for 40 over years and they seem to maintain an atmosphere of minimum interaction and a very detached attitude towards each other. The husband has been a leftist loner since his student days and it was a marriage sout of convenience rather than comradeship because the wife as his student who naturally admired him because of his high education and status . Unfortunately she has little love for his leftist thinking and they nearly broke off if not for the three children. Finally they come to a compromise by which he would continue his pursuit in writing leftist articles and books and she would go to the church and is an active member of the church. Because of this awkward relationship, their children are influenced to such an extent that none of them get married even if the eldest of them is long past 40. This is a bad example of a family and they could not help it much because of their difference in religious belief and outlook on life. Anyway, I think in all marriages, the couples should as much as possible settle their differences in their political ideas and outlook on life. It is easier said than done but I think apart from the example above ,  there are also a lot of couples with just very  trifling differences which can be solved by mutual understanding and give and take attitude. It is more on the side of husband to take the initiative and effort to cultivate a healthy and harmonious family environment for their own good. Wives are usually passive and submissive but could be with very strong opinion in sensitive issue like womanizing in which case of course it is the duty of husband to take a correct stand and leave no room to doubt.. If we have the right attitude in life naturally we would not find it hard to convince the other halves of our sincerity and faithfulness. Then we will find that wives are not so difficult to please and the older they grow the more wonderful they will be!

Join the Monkey Show

I think the broken-down tricycle is in real trouble with three different groups in the dog fight for party leadership. What is comical is that at least one prominent party leader has expressed his reluctance to join the dog fight and revealed to his relatives that he has been forced by circumstances  or rather his big boss who commands him to climb up the ladder. With the authority from the big boss  he is certainly on the upper hand. But this time aother faction is equally determined to fight for it. So this puts the broken tricycle more and more in a downtrodden position with only the puppies whimming for help!

Live Like a Fighter

To all those who have had an active life in the past, I would urge them to continue the rest of the life's journey with the same spirit as before. You have all gone through hard struggle and living has been a life ong struggle anyway for you.  Although physically you may be not comparable to others, yet spiritually you are well compensated and able to contribute your wide experience in life to the society by actively involving in the social and political activities to take part in moving the wheel of history forward to use the jargon so to say. Well there is no need to despair or to always regret for the past mistakes nor should we feel hurt by being neglected by the world for it is we ourselves who should be blamed for being left out. So come out now and live a full life as you are used to be, you heroes of the past can still be heroes of our modern times.

Cutting off the limbs?

Why are the Ma Hua, Min Zen and all those lackeys clamouring  about the Hudud laws?  We all know Ma is the most corrupt and racist past politician and we all know he has used all henchmen to collect dues and dirty monies from every quarter even up to this day. One henchman has just been declared bankrupt just to avoid paying enormous amount of debts after giving his boss the lion shares of the spoils . If the corrupt and despotic regime is toppled by popular and really bersih election , if Lao Ma is tried in a religious court , he would certainly be convicted of the sorts of crimes and I wonder how many limbs would be cut off. Perhaps, his head would be cut off too for his inciting the racialists in the racial riots!

White Lies

It is very shameful for a minister to tell lies and then retract his announcement without the slightest regret.  Not only he, actually quite a number of those up there had expressed their belief that there were no such violation of laws on the part of the authority in the tear gas bomb and smoke bombs and water canon. If he was the scapegoat in the first place, just say so or else he has to resign for telling the white lies just like the Japanese ministers and other officers in various countries of the world. But it seems the thickskinned  ones would never apologize just to cling to his post!

The Pitfall of Religious Paradox

I think we should not be drawn into a meaning argument of Islamic Hudud laws etc.  We all know full well that the Wu Tong has always been using religion and race issue to hold on to power all along. Wu Tong has proved that they can and have passed all sorts of legislations  without slightest care for their minor partners who can be done without.  So the main issue is not Hudud, it is who is in power. With Wu Tong in charge, we will have to live under dictatorship of one group of vested interests while with the new forces, we have at least the hope of real democracy and true equality due to equal right in the partnership. So please do not be deceived by the henchmen and lackeys of Wu Tong and vote them out for the sake of future of our children!

Adopted Children

Having read in the news that an adopted daughter in the US has colluded with her children to murder her adopted father who fortunately was not killed though badly hurt with bricks etc. The father is now 80 plus while the adopted daughter is 40 plus with 3 children.  Just this morning I tried to invite my friend to a magnificent show from China and in the course of our conversation , he painfully revealed that his adopted son who graduated from Russia with a doctor's degree has repeatedly behaved in a way that is unbecoming of a son, very rebellious and uncooperative. It is a very big blow to him as his own son was long ago kidnapped and just disappeared or lost in the air. His greatest hope is to find someone to succeed him and his huge wealth. But he is very cruelly denied of this pleasure and their relationship is in the point of breaking off in the river of no return. I greatly sympathize with him though I do not agree to his idea of having an off-spring is the greatest duty of a man according to Confucius . I think to avoid unwanted worries be should have a worldwide outlook instead of trying to adopt a son why not donate his enormous wealth to worthy cause such as real charity and helping really needy people. But I think it is hard to convince him to be so generous and selfless.

Divorce

Nowadays, it  is not uncommon to hear of many marriages fail and what is more many of these couples are into their golden years. What is really wrong with this society? There are of course some cases of the involvement of a third party. But you would be surprised many of the failures in marriage are not caused by any third party nor related to sex or related problems instead they are caused by trivial matters; like the differences of characters, habits, beliefs and even some very small matters.  In the past, they bear with each other due to their involvement and dedication to business , children and livelihood . But after they have brought up their children, they just face squarely with each other . People become more and more obstinate having grown old and senile. So what can be bearable now becomes unbearable and when two people become like enemies, you know often times it would destroy love and marriages. When there is any problem, be honest and patiently sit down and discuss with the other half and with mutual reconciliation and grace, all problems can be solved or at least set aside. The tragedy of divorce can be avoided and should be for the sake of living a wholesome life for the duration of the golden remaining years.

The Rising of the debris

As I was saying that the son of a tycoon has thought it wise to come out himself instead of paying the cronies to serve the vested interest of his family business. Now he has really come out to the open with an advertisement in a local news purportedly inserted by his supporters to express support to stand for the broken tricycle group party leader election. Knowing him well enough, there is no surprise that he has thought it worthwhile to gamble his political future away like he has done many years ago in the share market. If he fails in the venture this time, I don't know what would be thrown down from his office by his old man. Hopefully not himself in person!?

An Outing

In the early years of my teaching life, I was once invited to talk of the popular uprising and independent movements in the then backward countries in Africa and Latin America. We met at a rubber tapper's hut up in Bukit Lima . There were about 50 young students more or less crowded into the simple hut and we did feel the building seemed to moan under such additional load. A simple made-shift hard paper board served as the blackboard and I did sketch a simple map to explain my points. It was more like a classroom with quiet and disciplined pupils. I being a professional teacher had no difficulty in my role and enjoyed the esteem and respect accorded to me.
Apart from the quotes from the relevant book borrowed from the Council Library, I made very little comments nor did I made any political analysis then. I behaved just more like a conventional classroom teacher.  I wonder how many of the students live to this time and how many had met with the arrests, detention and died.

The Reality

After the collapse of the popular movement, there is naturally a low tide period in which the once advanced youths have now become old and senile. Some keep very low profile and some try to find their comfort in all sorts of religions which they formerly would certain reject categorically. But we still find a few have taken up the responsibility to face the challenge of the modern political struggle and let themselves be bathed in the heat of political fights. I think it is only right for us to be concerned of our political fate and try our best to handle our own fate and the future of our country by actively involving in the present struggle against the evil forces. We have not been wrong in maintaining our atheist stand and we cannot sink into the low mood of clinging to a religious log in the current of the broiling sea. On the contrary, we should take up courage to face the reality squarely in the face to contribute our golden years to make sure our country will be rid of greedy wolves and political gangsters who have held on to powers by hooks and crooks for such a long time. Enough is enough!

The Hudud laws

Talking about the woman drivers being punished just for their being the wrong sex, I think it just ridiculous to the extreme. Are they not aware that if they engage male drivers, they may be attacked by male drivers and they would normally be condemned as adulterous because it is very hard to prove rape which requires many eye-witnesses on the spot. It is also against human rights and proper ethics of social behaviour in imposing such discriminating laws. Are we still living in the middle ages? I believe there must be many people in the Muslim countries around the world who would not condone such archaic laws . To be silent on such matters is equal to collaborators in such oppressive acts.

A Habit

Once you are used to something that you do for a long time you are naturally used to it . It has become a habit. Many people have become a habitual christian or Buddhist without even thinking of its implication. Mind you some of them claim to be non-conformists or even atheist. A great many people just follow the current and follow suit whatever their friends are doing. I think coming to our golden years we can really do a soul searching and find out the truth of this universe and live a full life without just being led by the nose to welcome thy kingdom come?

My Finding on good living

After keeping all the usual rules of healthy living, I find that the results are quite encouraging. The fundamental rules being kept are no oily and fatty food, little salt , least sugar and plenty of exercise including parking cars far away to save parking tickets and enjoy walking around as much as possible. Recently I was introduced to a strange product called Shieh Lieng from Tibet. The original seeds were given to me asking me to mix with one part of Siamese original unrefined brown sugar which is hard to find. Now I use the Gula Atap (atap Tong) with three part of alkaline water or just the drinking water from reverse osmosis. Say 100g. seeds(dough), 100g gula and 100g of water well mixed in a bottle and cover it(not too tight or the bottle may explode because fermentation is on-going all the time. The mixture will be ready after 5 or 6 days. You can then drain the content through a sieve or just a piece of clean cloth to get the tien san sieh lieng which taste like very weak wine with a bit of sour taste. The remaining dough can be reused for another round of fermentation.  I have drunk the mixture for some time and I find it quite good, invigorating . Hey it might be a good idea for anyone to try as it is cheap and supposedly good for health.

Racial Relationship

I have always maintained that there is actually no tension or animosity between races in this country. It was all disrupted by those cunning politicians among whom the most notorious being cunning old fox  M who everybody knows rose up to the political arena by virtue of his rhetoric emphasis on racial relationship.  He is now even condemned for his racial tirade and subversion all along by a very senior minister.  My experience with people of other races have always been quite well from my school classmates and then to my colleagues and co-workers.  Now I am retired I have very little contacts with other brother races. But I do have have good memories of a few.  I would like to mention that I have been thankful to a Muslim eye specialist who gave me great attention so that I would not go blind due to the negligence of a foreign specialist. Later I met with a kind dentist , an orang ulu who really gave good service in attending to my teeth.  Last but not least, I met with a Malay eye specialist who carefully operated on my cataract and it was very successful . I think we should try to refute all allegations and malicious racial lies and myths. Let us all work together to kick out all those rubbish political gangsters to make our country most livable and democratic society.

The Big News

It is no doubt a big news sensational enough to catch the headline but naturally you would feel it has come too late and only when there is something to be got from the  voters. Well things can still be considered when youj have done something positive even though it may be outdated and not much weight. However, we can see that there is change of mindset especially with the voters who are now apparently more sophisticated and not easily fooled by chauvinists' and racists' roars. Even the most sensitive subject of Malayan Communists does not stir up big roar . This shows how  fast that we people can pick up information from abroad and keep pace with the very fast changing world esspecially in the backward Arab countries most recently. A good start for our country Boleh lah!

Who are the true sons of the soil?

Surely it does not need to have professors or senior authority to tell us the true sons of the soil who are heroes and who are not. We have seen the twisting of history to the extent that we don't recognise the true facts anymore.  While those who fought for the come-back of the British Rajah regime were honoured as heroes and those who served as running dogs of the Japanese Imperial army were honoured as heroes whereas those who fought against the Japanese invaders and the British colonial army branded as terrorists and traitors. Whatever you said Mr.Professor you have totally disregarded the true history and your tongue twisting is worse than the serpent !

This is the best of time and the worst of time!

Now is the time when all things happen very fast and swift indeed. Who would think that without the sacrifice of the blood of the people, the dictators and corrupt leaders in so many countries have been brought down from their coveted posts to face justice in front of their subjects?  You would expect a long time to accomplish a revolution or even rebellion just as the struggle of the Chinese Communists has been a long term effort with the sacrifice of countless lives! We now see the possibility of a change of government without bloodshed if we can persist in all out effort to carry out the work of education to all the poor citizens of our country. We can foresee the result!

Clannish Associations

We can see the past history of clannish associations with their internal strife, political affiliations, etc. But at least there is still a semblance of independent stand to accommodate various forces under the umbrella body of Hua Jong. Now it was rather childish on the part of an outcast politician to manipulate the so-called seven associations clique into giving a narrow minded allegiance to the authority. In doing so, he has indeed raped the 76 associations and the decision had never gone through the proper channels of extraordinary general meetings etc. He has always been used to play his money politics in the rural areas and now he began to apply it to the urban folks. I think he has miscalculated in this game and apparently he has already lost even before the real battle for popular support has begun!

The Seven Associations

The setting of a new body consisting of 7 dialectical associations is apparently an untimely one and serves only to disunite Chinese with a view clearly shown to be political. The existing association of all Chinese descents has long cater for all the dialectical groups and the setting up of a separate body is to confuse the Malaysian Chinese and clearly set to split the Chinese with a view to mislead them to be part of a plot to form the core of divide and rule policy under the lone-ranger politician who craves the favour of only one top man while losing out to his former comrade and supporters.  The leaders of the seven splinter group should be chastised for this very unwise act and let all the members of the seven associations hold special general meetings to chase out the so-called leaders who represent only themselves!

Talking of heroes

Who are heroes and who are cowards?  I think we would agree that to serve your own country and your duly elected government are naturally the duties of the citizens. But when the foreign powers conquered our country and forced their occupation authority on us then naturally we have every right to fight against the aggressors . We all know that our country had been colony of the British Empire and during the second world war she was beaten by the Japanese Imperial Army and those who served the former Imperial Army can hardly be called heroes because obviously they had died as best the mercenaries and scouts for the Colonialists. Subsequently the people organised their own forces to fight the Japanese occupation forces along with their lackeys comprising of the local mercenaries and also some foreign mercenaries from Taiwan etc. Those who served under the occupying aggressors can hardly be called heroes . A more appropriate word would be Traitor! So also when the local people rose up against the return of the British Imperial foreign, those who joined in with the British Imperial forces to suppress the local resistance forces could hardly be heroes. They should be more appropriately called mercenaries, henchmen and traitors. History cannot be twisted and it is quite clear who are heroes and who are not!

Taboo

Sometimes, it is strange to find that people do have some sort of taboos in their daily life and many a time it can lead to tragedy eventually. Recently a girl died because she had always objected to being examined by doctors , many of whom happen to be males especially the specialists. If she had no such taboo she would long ago be found to have breast cancer at the early stage and be rid of such menace with the operation and follow-up treatments. It is foolish to refuse to be examined by males and she paid such mistake with her life.  Of course not all have the same problems but still many have taboos of one kind or another. Some even refuse to see doctors, specialists and only see Chinese druggists and physicians. Not that Chinese physicians are not good enough but there are limits what they can do. We still need all the sophisticated medical equipments  special ly developed in the labs and new effective drugs to treat many new diseases. Why not be subject to all scientifically well proven methods of treatments before going to traditional drugs/druggists? Act before it is too late and be fast to race against the fast-paced diseases and menaces.

Change of the world

It seems there are more ways to cause changes in governments and rules. It is now fastfood method of toppling the ruling cliques and make sweeping changes. But of course the newly set-up peoples' governments may still have lots of problems as there are still many remnants of the previous regimes and other forces. But anyway, it is the first time that the wind of change has so far made sweeping changes to the establishment in the shortest time possible and many peoples find themselves facing new life and freedom from obsolete governments. Of course we know there were bloodsheds and many heroes and vanguards were being slaughtered by the dictators and corrupt leaders who of course did not easily give up their ill-gotten gains and wealth bleeding even the last drops of the revolutionaries' blood.

Homosexuality

Now the time has come when homosexuality is no longer a taboo or a crime any more. More and more people are more sophisticated and better informed on various subjects including the one I am talking about. So I again urge my friends and foes alike that it is not only foolish to join in the bandwagon to fight homosexuality as heinous what is worse is you may be utilised by ill-intentioned people to persecute perfectly harmless ones while the corrupt political crooks are free to commit daylight robbery of public funds and even openly using the weapons from the defence dept arsenals to bomb the victimised human being into smithereens! Justice will be done although it is slow sometimes but we know justice will eventually punish the murderers and the assistants even such one time strong and powerful men as Gaddafi!

Follow Suit

Since we are young we have been bottled fed in our childhood, school days, and the society. We have to follow all sorts of rules and laws set down so that we have long time ago lost our own initiative and thinking for ourselves. We are good only as followers of the establishment. That is why our society takes a long time to accept new things and new ideas least of all the changes. It is high time that we should let our children know what learning is all about. They should learn how to think for themselves and not be spoonfed with all the rules and laws which might have been out of date and really obsolete. If we want to have a healthy society and really democratic country we must have truly educated and sophisticated citizens who cannot be bullied or cheated by the crooks and liars.

A Good Sign

The so-called most populous democratic nation of the world , India is now having big trouble because there is a great people's movement against the serious problem of corruption. A great leader in the style of Gandhi has come to lead the anti-corruption movement and he is fasting for real until there is change in the political authority and will not  stop until the corruption problem is seriously tackled. He is great and India is saved if all the people will rise up to follow him!

A Great Misunderstanding

Recently in small-scale old student reunion , a great misunderstanding made the reunion a disaster in the end all because of a joke .  An old classmate phoned me up to meet a female classmate from outstation and we had a refreshment at a small eating stall. In the course of enjoying good food, we naturally talked of the old classmates and the related subjects. We boys also mentioned the secret admiration of the female classmates and of course, there was laughter and jokes quite harmless. But somehow after she has left Kuching, I met my old friend again later. During our meet, I teased him for his eagerness and very visible admiration of the former lady classmate. I jokingly teased her about it later in our emails exchange. She tried to argue heatedly that they had not behaved untowardly during their meeting  with me on the spot and was angery for my implying anything more pure friendship. I did explain to her that what he said was just that he had feeling for her though she may not know nor did she reciprocated the feeling and then she just stopped all emails or phonecalls altogether. Thus, I have just lost one old classmate /friend just bcause I was not very careful in making jokes.

Making money from blogging?

I just found out that some peculiar person is trying to use others to promote the sale of his books merely a collection of his comments, photoes, and things more of a personal liking than public interests. He made use of a generous former comrade to force sell his books which are more and more of private and personal interest than public concern edging more and more towards those good-for nothing retired teachers and literary men acting more and more like even more conservative than the diehard rogues. I feel disgusted with such tendency of personal likings and such trivial things. So I am not going to be a buyer for the sake of maintaining a long lost friendship.

The Big Towkay's Son

I know him as a second generation prodigal son of a very wealthy man and he is the only one left after his brother died in a car accident. He is the elder but there was no love lost between him and his father who had at one time tried to disown him for squandering a lot of money in his endeavour at shares gambling in which he lost a lot of money that his father charged to his office and threw the computer down the pavement. So with his liking of gambling etc, he now begins to pay his attention to the politics starting with his domain in an Oil Town.  He has all the support from his kaki tangan so that he thinks it is time to take over from the small time players who have all the time being paid for from his coffers making think that if he could come out himself he would do better  than those who only know how to ask for handouts and made poor show in the election just completed.. He did not learn a lesson from his friend who lost in the recent election and thought he could be a better gambler as he has enough capital to do so. So let's bless him any way for his vainglory!

Son of A tycoon

Recently a son of a timber tycoon suddenly seeks to stand as candidate to contest the seat of a chairman of a certain branch of a ruling party. The party members are very sensitive and his opponents have attacked him by pointing an accusing finger at all rich men for interfering their party affairs to influence the members with their great wealth which contribute a lot to their party coffers.  It is a fact that no one can deny that rich and powerful men use their money to control the party so as to generate more profit as it is only natural being businessmen they regard the party machinery as one of their money printing machine. It is a pity that democracy is like something dangling in front of the members while chasing it is just futile!  This also serves as an eye-opener to the general populace and the electorates. Wipe your eyes and see clearly whom to vote in the coming election!

The Old Flame-------------

Recently I went to meet a former classmate from abroad and my classmate here was totally a different person on meeting her.  I am not a sensitive person and I did not notice anything unusual until right after her visit I went to see him here at his home. After some deep talks, he confessed to me that the old lady has been his old flame and I suddenly become aware that they did hold hands and he even patted on her shoulder.  Anyway, they are both in the seventies, what is past is past. The past can only be a good memory  He is a widower and she a mother and grandmother of plenty of children and grandchildren. But from what I saw he was being really inspired by her visit and changed to a new and smart person overnight. So why deny him of the pleasure of meeting an old flame to fullfil his spiritual inspiration.

As I See It

From what we all observe and agree, it is true that young people from European Union and other countries the Western nations have slowly lost their faith in the religions formerly predominant in their countries. This shows very clearly that with the progress of the modern sciences and technology, it is harder to simply substitute a blind faith or beliefs unfounded scientifically for a continuous search for the unknown. We agree we do not know all the things in this world nor do we have every answer to all the mysteries of this and the outer world, namely the outer space. But it would be even more in the wrong to slap the mud of religious beliefs onto the young inquisitive minds in our modern society. So we parents and grandparents should not try to mislead our younger generations by leading them all to all sorts of religions and what not. We must be true to the reality and sciences without which we would be in the dark ages even up to now!

As I was saying....

Time flies and in a twinkling of an eye, I have now turned out to be  in the golden age.  As I was saying there were a lot of injustice and terrible crimes committed by the corrupt and greedy politicians who seemed to have the world at their finger tips. These gangster-like characters had smeared local political scenes with their dirty and bloodstained hands or rather paws. We have seen innocent people are being arrested, tortured and in some case just mysteriously disposed off . There appears to be few remedy if any against such wanton abuse of powers and justice.  I wonder when will there be when we will ever see the blue sky and justice being done!

A Blogger whom I admire

I really admire a blogger who has everything he wants and he is in a top successful list yet he is brave enough to say what he thinks is just without any regard to the danger of the big bosses and all that! One thing is certain he is not the type who wants to boast his literary talents etc and he has often published his poems and comments on the nick of time and has always hit the nail on the head.

Change of Mind?

I think it rather odd that a high government officer can change his mind so suddenly without second thought. He has declared that the society can convene their meeting in any stadium or any other public enclosed space but overnight there is great change of stand. They are now required to apply for license and further more they are not even recognized as legal entity although they have been assured of the legality of meeting in a building. Since the big boss has promised to lend his ears to people's request but sthe police are still questioning and detaining a lot of people just for having some colored shirts etc. It is said the matter rests with the police who can makes their decision without reference to the authority. It looks like and taste like police is running the state. Well everything can be made very simple by just hearing what they have to say and answer in public and account for all those as the Boss rightly should.

As I See It

It is wonderful there are so many religions in this world and up till now we still have lots of superstitious people clinging to all sorts of religions to get to their kingdoms of God, gods etc.  I think the main problem is people are still unwilling to admit that their life is limited and they cannot have eternal life or afterlife. Of course you would not like to die one day just like that leaving your wealth and dear ones behind. It is especially so for those who are rich and famous. So we have good market for selling all sorts of religions etc. But the truth is you cannot have eternal ife and afterlife. You live only once and that is full stop!

Sunday, 3 July 2011

Why ?

I don't know why suddenly some people are branded as terrorists and detained under emergency laws and many are being arrested just very slim excuse if any. Why can't we allow peaceful presentation and just dealing with our own people . It is something shameful to smear the peaceful populace with all sorts of dirty and dubious brand names. You can always do thing democratically without any unnecessary violence or force. There should be nothing to hide and nothing to fear the people who are our own citizens.  Try civilized ways and you will have to give audience to people to know what they want. Don't judge and take brutal actions before you have even hear them out!

Saturday, 2 July 2011

Why Such a Fuss!

A peaceful demonstration calling for fair and just election suddenly becomes a nightmare to the authority concerned. The properly established and long time registered socialist party suddenly becomes a monster and the members were being summarily detained under ISA and people really suspect this small party has been taken up as scapegoat for the slaughter and threat just aimed as .putting off the fire which may turn into a real fire in the prairie! Be fair and more balanced man, you can no longer scare people away with all the oppressive high-handed police action and people are now awakened by the world current development and it is futile to apply gestapo action against the peaceful people unless you want to turn them into real tigers! Well there is proper channels to dialogue and talk properly with the electorates who only want a clean election process and clean and transparent government!

Learning From Others

When I chanced to go into some blogs especially from the West, I think I have widen my view on what others are saying and paying attention to. Of course I can't agree to all of their sayings but I do find that they have very courageously maintain the righteous and fair attitude making comments which really carry weight and make sense. After reading some blogs locally many concentrate on their personal trifles or memories of childhood and etc. it is refreshing to read those articles reflecting the present moment of turbulent reality in this country. Yeah I think it only right to deal with the most pressing problems of this society instead of going for beautiful scenes or invigorating songs of yesteryears.

Ling Beng Siew

This is a very controversial personality in Sarawak and he was one of the leaders o representing Sarawak to go to London to sign the consent to join Malaysia. He also founded the Sarawak Chinese Association in Sarawak to counter the then strong leftist Party SUPP but then SCA was so weak that later they somehow sought to infiltrate into SUPP and took over the leadership of SUPP to turn it into a pro-Malaysia Party. Ling Beng Siew was also very aggressive in business and he had developed international interests in Indonesia and elsewhere. Later due to mismanagement by his sons,  When his global business empire failed he was a very sad man and he died a lonely man in Singapore. He was hated by many and even considered as a traitor to the interest of Sarawak and its peoples . That may be a bit too harsh a comment for him but there was very little love lost between him and many of his employees and contacts in business etc.
